Bixler Insurance evolved from a few small agencies in Berne and Geneva, growing into the trusted agency across Northeast Indiana, that we are today.
Herman J. Bixler joins the Wm. F. Phenig agency in Geneva and soon forms the Herman J. Bixler Agency, coining the motto “Service Beyond the Contract.”
Herman purchases the Jiggs Moser Agency in Berne; his brother Melvin Bixler begins managing the Berne office.
The agency is renamed to Bixler Insurance, Inc. and Herman’s son-in-law, Russ Flueckiger, joins the team.
Matt Lehman begins working in the Berne office under Melvin Bixler.
A new office opens in Portland, with Steve Stockton managing the location.
Herman Bixler passes away and Russ Flueckiger becomes President. Matt Lehman becomes a partner.
Bixler Insurance expands to Decatur, purchasing the Dave Riehle Agency. Doug Nelson, a Decatur native with insurance experience, joins the agency.
Doug Nelson becomes a partner alongside Russ and Matt.
Dustin Cressman joins the agency.
Dustin Cressman becomes a partner with Russ, Matt, and Doug.
Derick Bailey joins the agency, focusing on senior products and life and health insurance.
The agency acquires the GMI Agency in Decatur and the AE Wegmann Agency in Woodburn, with Lynn Wegmann continuing as a servicing agent. Russ Flueckiger enters semi-retirement. Derick Bailey becomes a partner.
