Everything You Need to Prepare for Your Upcoming Medicare Coverage Review
Thank you for trusting Bixler Insurance with your Medicare coverage needs. Medicare plans can change from year to year, including premiums, benefits, prescription drug coverage, provider networks, and other plan details.
Your annual review gives us an opportunity to look at your current coverage and help you understand whether it continues to align with your healthcare needs and budget. To help us prepare and make your review as efficient as possible, please follow the steps below.
Before your annual review, please provide us with an up-to-date list of the prescription medications you currently take. This allows our team to review your prescription drug coverage before your appointment.
Providing your current information in advance helps our team prepare for your review and better understand your individual Medicare coverage needs.
Once you’ve completed the information above, schedule a convenient time for your annual Medicare review with Bixler Insurance. For clients who are unable to travel to the office, Bixler Insurance also offers appointments by telephone. Please contact the office to arrange a phone appointment.
Before your appointment, take a few minutes to watch the video above. It explains some of the important differences between Medicare Advantage and Original Medicare with a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy. Understanding these differences can help you identify questions or concerns you’d like to discuss during your annual review.
There is no single Medicare coverage option that is right for everyone. Your healthcare needs, preferred doctors and hospitals, prescription medications, travel habits, budget, and other factors can all play a role in determining which type of coverage may be appropriate for you.
Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare and provide your Medicare Part A and Part B benefits. Many plans also include prescription drug coverage and may offer additional benefits such as routine dental, vision, hearing, or fitness benefits. Depending on the plan, provider networks, referrals, prior authorization requirements, copays, coinsurance, and other restrictions may apply.
With Original Medicare and a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy, Original Medicare remains your primary coverage while the Medicare Supplement policy helps pay certain out-of-pocket costs left by Medicare. This option generally provides greater flexibility in choosing providers who accept Medicare, but requires an additional premium, and prescription drug coverage generally requires a separate Part D plan.
