Understanding Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Plans
Original Medicare (Parts A and B) covers many healthcare services but not everything. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policies help pay certain out-of-pocket costs such as deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance. These plans are offered by private insurance companies and are used with Original Medicare, not in place of it.
In most states—including Indiana—Medigap benefits are standardized by plan letter.
For example, a Plan G from one company must provide the same core benefits as a Plan G from another. Prices and availability can vary by company and by state.

Benefits and availability vary by state and eligibility date. Certain plans (such as C and F) are not available to people new to Medicare on or after January 1, 2020. For official guidance, consult your state Department of Insurance or visit Medicare.gov. Medicare Part D plans are offered by private insurers contracted with Medicare. Formularies and pharmacy networks vary by location and may change annually. For official information, visit Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY: 1-877-486-2048).
