Matt is the President and insurance agent for Bixler Insurance. He brings over 33 years of experience to the company, with a deep commitment to helping clients protect what matters most. A Certified Insurance Counselor since 1995, he specializes in farm and commercial insurance while maintaining broad expertise across all areas of property and casualty coverage. Outside the office, Matt is a proud husband, father to three daughters, and grandfather to three grandsons. Since 2008, he has also served as the State Representative for Indiana’s 79th district, where he advocates for his community with the same dedication he brings to his professional life. As a State Representative, Matt has had the opportunity to be involved in leading insurance industry groups across the country, giving him unique insight he can bring to Bixler Insurance and his clients. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, golfing, and reading historical biographies.
Dustin is a partner at the agency with 14 years of experience helping clients protect their businesses, farms, and families through customized insurance solutions. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance & Risk Management & Insurance from Ball State University, bringing both academic insight and real-world expertise to every client interaction. Specializing in commercial, farm, and life insurance, he is committed to understanding each client’s unique needs and providing practical, reliable coverage options they can trust. Outside of work, Dustin enjoys life with his wife, Kristi, and three children. He loves playing board games, staying active with sports, vacationing, and connecting with friends and family. He is also passionate about serving his local community and church by volunteering in different ways.
Derick is a partner and experienced insurance agent who specializes in health insurance. He graduated from Indiana University in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in social work. He has worked for a couple of decades in Healthcare Operations for Long Term Care, Hospice and Home Health. He has attained certifications as a Certified Aging Services Professional (CASP) and an American Medicare Disability Advocate (AMDA). Derick is passionate about helping individuals navigate their health coverage options. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, tackling trivia challenges, watching and playing sports, and building things.
Amy has been serving clients in the insurance industry since 1990, bringing over 3 decades of experience and dedication to her role. She specializes in personal lines insurance, helping individuals and families find the right protection for their homes, vehicles, and personal assets. When she’s not working with clients, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband, four children, and twelve grandchildren. She loves cooking, relaxing by the pool, and vacationing.
Eric is an agent who specializes in life and health insurance. He brings a strong foundation in business with a degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. He’s passionate about helping clients protect what matters most and brings a thoughtful, personalized approach to every interaction. Outside the office, Eric enjoys cheering on his three daughters at their sporting events, helping his wife run The Old 27 Ice Cream Shop, playing board and video games, and staying active in the community through his role on the Decatur Main Street Board.
Nathan specializes in agriculture and agribusiness insurance, bringing a deep understanding of the industry from both personal and professional experience. He grew up on a farm and continues to own and operate his family farm today. With 17 years of experience in banking – primary focused on agriculture lending – Nathan offers valuable insight and support to clients in the ag community. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his son and 4 dogs, traveling, antiquing, supporting 4-H, and serving on the board of the Boys & Girls Club of Adams County.
Stephanie is a dedicated insurance agent with 20 years of experience specializing in Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Supplemental insurance. With an associate degree in Business Administration, she combines her educational background with decades of hands-on expertise to guide clients thought important healthcare decisions. She takes pride in building lasting relationships and ensuring her clients feel confident and supported when choosing the coverage that best fits their needs. Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, cheering on her daughters in their sports, traveling, and volunteering.
Doug is the Vice President of the agency and a seasoned insurance professional with 35 years of industry experience. A proud graduate of Bellmont High School, Doug has built a career around helping clients protect their homes, businesses, and futures with confidence and clarity. Since joining the agency in 2006, he has specialized in both personal and commercial lines of insurance. His deep knowledge and practical approach make him a trusted resource for clients seeking straightforward advice and comprehensive coverage. Doug enjoys life outside of work golfing, vacationing, and spending time with his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.
Paige is a licensed insurance agent in both Property & Casualty and Life Insurance, bringing a well-rounded understanding of coverage options to support clients in every stage of life. Since entering the insurance industry in 2021, she has also taken the lead in marketing efforts for the agency, helping build strong community connections. She is enthusiastic about helping people make informed decisions and is known for her approachable, friendly service. Outside of work, Paige enjoys spending time with her husband and their four children. She loves reading, walking, and spending quality time with her friends and family.
Steve began his insurance career in 1979. He joined Bixler Insurance May of 1992. He is a multi-line agent,writing farm, crop, home, auto, commercial, life and group health for his clients. Steve and his wife Sheryl live on a small farm west of Portland. They have two grown children, Kyle and Kym, and three grandchildren, Ava, Ella, and Eli. Steve is proud to announce that his son, Kyle, has joined Bixler Insurance in Portland.
